It is a cultural center that organizes and produces exhibitions, debates, festivals and concerts, programmes film cycles, courses and lectures, and encourages creation using new technologies and languages. You can also find inside a nice cafe, a bookshop and a library, I love to go there on sundays, to discover new artists or just have some tea and look at some art books.

Once a month I go to Jose's Hairdresser salon to cut my hair. Is an small place, simple and nice placed very near from my home, Jose cuts my hair exactly as I like it to do and the treatment is excellent: he is kind, but he doesn't speak too much, something rare in the field of hairdressers. If I had to choose one singular and authentic bar in Barcelona, I'll say "Mendizábal". This is not a fancy bar, and that's what I love of Mendizábal. But it doesn't mean it isn't a cute one with a beautiful decoration and good prices. They have a two very differentiated spaces: one privileged terrace in the city center, and the interior salon. Them both are awesome, and it's perfect because you can decide which one fits better with the situation. They do tapas, sandwich, juices, burgers and veggi burgers. The couch area near the fireplace is probably the best one in the restaurant. Amazing for long talks and good breakfast.

In 1938 during the Spanish Civil war, Francisco Franco laid siege to the city of Barcelona. On the 30 September 1938, one of Franco's bombs fell on the church killing 30 people most of whom were children from the School of Sant Philip Neri and some were refugee children from Madrid where the church had been turned into a make-shift orphanage. As people pulled survivors from the rubble, a second bomb hit the square, killing 12 more bringing the death toll to 42. It was the second worst bombing hit in Barcelona during the war. Evidence of the bombings can be seen in the pockmarked walls of the church.
