Born in 1988 in Cologne/Germany Hugo Hoppmann is a graphic designer and art director who graduated from ECAL in Lausanne/Switzerland in summer 2011. Alongside his studies he interned at Bureau Mirko Borsche, worked for Berlin-based culture magazine 032c and found his own publication Better Mjstakes. After a powerful one-year stint at Meiré und Meiré (working full-time on projects such as Kenzo, Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, 032c, brandeins) he has now returned to independency, traveling the world in pursuit for new adventures.

Tagebau Garzweiler is an areal in the south-east of Cologne where lignite mining is taking place. Finding yourself on one of the viewing platforms you will have a stunning view over the open-cast mine. The mine is still expanding but in some older parts it is possible to wander through this wide and surreal landscape.

Schaden.com is a book store and publishing house, specialised on photography books and special releases. It is a place where you can spend ages browsing through books and discovering publications you haven't even heard of. Besides the bookstore Schaden is organizing events on photography like talks, lectures, book signings and exhibitions. In the neighbourhood of the book store called Ehrenfeld you find many other emerging little shops, cafés and food places.

Very nice and cozy pub in the heart of Cologne’s Südstadt. Apart from the magnificent Kölsch (“offering a smooth journey of sensations that may be unremarkable individually but are extraordinarily pleasant as an ensemble”—The New York Times) they have a great program of life music and local DJ's.
