Dublin / Music Venue

This is my favourite venue in Dublin, it is the right size, the sound is great, the atmosphere is genuine and the location is perfect… There are concerts every single night and they always have a good selection of both national and international acts. I have seen unknown bands and some of my very favourite bands on the stage and I take great pleasure from seeing larger acts still playing in small venues like Whelans.

Maria de la Iglesia is a London based photographer. She was born in Madrid and spent 7 years living in Dublin where she studied a BA in Photography in DIT. She moved to London 3 years ago where she completed her studies with an MA in Documentary photography at LCC. Now she is freelancing and producing her own personal photography projects in London.

Dublin / Area

It’s wonderful to get lost in the residential areas of the South side of the city. It is commonly known for being the wealthier side of the river and often faces some criticism for this. There are incredible buildings and I enjoy looking into the houses and seeing how the residents live.

Dublin / Pub

This pub represents to me what Dublin is all about. Within these four walls you can find all sorts of people from Bono to a homeless person. This is what makes Dublin different, the non-exclusion, non-classes and its vibrant pub culture. They serve arguably one of the best pints of Guinness in Dublin and make a nasty delicious toast.

Dublin / Beach

Sandymount is the closest beach to the city center of Dublin. It is always great to go there for a wander around. It is so close yet still feels as if you are on holidays around there. I have mixed feelings about the industrial estate beside the beach but I love walking around there too, the 2 industrial towers are considered a beautiful iconic landmark on the Dublin skyline.

Dublin / Forest

This forest is only 1 hour away by car from Dublin and apparently is one of the oldest in the entire country. I like to go there with every opportunity. It has all the elements of a great forest being very dark, intimidating and ancient. There are sculptures and installations spread throughout the forest, making the experience of walking around beautifully bizarre and surreal.
