The workshops at the Gem Palace are a true fascination to me. Here you can witness the processes from rough stones being delivered to the final steps of cutting, faceting and polishing as well as setting and making. But what I admire truly is the shapes they can create sometimes losing up to 70% of a stone to create a dome for a pair of earrings.

I grew up in London but I am French with Italian origins. After completing my Ba (Hons) in jewellery design at Central Saint Martins I went on to study in New York at GIA to become a diamond graduate. I am now living in Jaipur, India and working at the Gem Palace, which I am very proud of as Munnu (the head designer) has been a major influence in my studies.

Jaipur / Hotel

An Oasis! After a 2h drive leaving the chaotic streets and markets of Jaipur the luxurious hotel Aman Bagh feels like an Oasis in the middle of Rajasthan’s countryside. What I treasure the most is the silence and peacefulness of this place. Enjoying tea in their amazing silver tea set is true luxury to me.

Jaipur / Transport

I love travelling around the city in a rickshaw. It’s not the most comfortable but it truly is the best way to experience the city. Every morning I get to see women in colorful saris, men having tea, cows with painted horns, and on some days elephant beautifully painted. What a great start to a day!

Jaipur / Attraction

For me Amer Fort is a true Gem in this city. Built in the16th century it remains intact. The second courtyard is the most impressive part. I love the mix of white marble, the mirror work and the beautifully arranged garden. On Sundays I often go for tea at Hot Pink on their secret terrace where the view is just breathe taking. And for a true Maharja experience what a great way to end the day by having diner on the private terrace of 1135 restaurant.

Jaipur / Architecture

I have a true admiration for Jali work. A sort of lattice carved in stone to embellish windows but mostly to prevent too much sun coming in. The most beautiful jali work can be seen at Devi Ratn hotel on the outskirt of Jaipur. I love the contemporary touch to them.
