The Refuge is one of the best restaurants in Manchester, serving small and large plates inspired by food from across the globe, all made with British ingredients. The setting is stunning and the whole dining experience feels extremely special.
I am a Swedish artist based in London.
My work concern interest in restraint related to the body and cultural structures. Ideas of obstruction aim to question how forms and bodies adapt to change, environment and ideals. I am interested in how a person is shaped by the spaces they have occupied and how a person occupies their own psychological space. With a background in dance, interests in the body and spatiality continue to influence my ideas with focus on balance and repetition. The physical relationship to images are essential in my process of making and the photograph as a performative document explore elements of gesture. There are slippages between image, object and subject. I work mainly with the analogue photographic process and sculpture in relation to the image and performance. I enjoy working physically with materials whether they are photographic prints, sculpture or my own physical body as a medium.
Daniel originally from Portsmouth moved to London just over 3 years ago. He works in a variety of mediums. His recent work consist of setting up structures for drawing that encourage chance to determine the form, this excludes him from making any aesthetic decision.
By using this conceptual logic he creates a system in which a process is started, continued for an undetermined amount of time, then finally stopped by the rule that birthed it. This thinking is also expressed in his photography which depict the unintentionally created forms of various other processes.
