Izabela is a German-Polish writer and editor who grew up in Berlin. She graduated with a BA in Communication, Curation and Criticism from Central Saint Martins and completed a masters degree in Critical Writing for Art and Design at the Royal College of Art. Through writing about art, architecture, politics, the media and design, she observes the constructs of everyday life. Izabela cares to be both a boundless enthusiast and a sensitive critic when engaging with contemporary narratives or speaking to current-time visionaries.

I am a Franco Ontarian sound and media artist, arts administrator, facilitator and cultural worker. 1980 to 2000: MM composition McGill U, interdisciplinary work, environmental art and acoustic ecology. 2000 to 2020: manager of Inter-Arts Office and senior strategic advisor (arts granting) Canada Council for the Arts. Currently producer of the conscient: art & environment blog and podcast. I run and practice zen.

I'm a creative producer and agent working in London, and co-founder of artist agency Grand Matter and editorial platform &wherefore.

Before moving to London, Fortuny worked in New York City, Milan, and Los Angeles as a writer and editor. She has contributed to magazines such as Flaunt, Dazed & Confused, Exit, Metal, and Vice. Fortuny is currently the Features Editor at Exit magazine. She loves design, languages, and studying art movements.
