Fish, fish, fish. The crab is amazing. You get a hammer and hammer your way through delicious fish meat.
The famous fish restaurant 'Ramiro' is a couple hundred meters down the street. It has lines for hours, not worth it! Walk up to this one with no line, half of the price and frankly better food as they don't need to rush.
Hi! my name is Daniela.
I'm a director and animator specialised in stop motion animation.
Apart from my work at BLND I use to collaborate individually with other production companies in a more technical way. After all, my favourite part of the stop motion process is working with my hands on the making.
Waste Textiles Artist.
Femke van Gemert, 1969
After a career in commercial fashion Femke decided to change the way to
create things. Now she designs wall hangings and rugs that are unique,
handmade and fully sustainable. By focussing on a single colour she re-uses textiles in abstract works. The beauty of imperfection and deterioration over time are always visible in her creations. The composition she creates radiates a certain mood or longing laden with fragments of the former characteristics of the used textile pieces. In the creation process Femke thinks about certain societal or environmental issues, these are reflected in the titles.
In commissioned work clients can donate their own discarded textiles. This improves the personal involvement the owner has with the piece of art. This way Femke wants to revaluate textile waste that is omnipresent in our fast consuming society. The wall hangings improve acoustics and are suitable for homes, offices and public buildings. The love for textiles combined with the urge to explore
the possibilities of discarded fabrics form a long lasting source of inspiration
and a way to express opinions in Femke van Gemert’s life.
The work of Amsterdam based visual artist Martijn Sandberg, constantly explores border areas, such as the tension between text and image, legibility and illegibility, the private and the public domain. “I make Image Messages, image is message is image.” The image hides the message. In the cut paintings „Sorry No Image Yet‟ and „Too Busy To Paint‟ there is a subtle play between the language of the image and the significance of the image, and this gives rise to questions.
Here, the lack of image seems to be elevated to an image by the artist. The direct relationship between the image, the material bearing the image and the environment is also expressed in his site-specific works in public space and architecture. As in „If These Walls Could Speak‟ that can be viewed in the lifts at the OBA Public Library Amsterdam, and the artwork „I Will Survive' located at the border of a burial ground in Hardenberg, The Netherlands. In 2010 „My Last Penny‟ by Martijn Sandberg is released as jaarpenning/ art medal 2010, issued by the Vereniging voor Penningkunst/ Dutch Art Medal Society in a multiple edition of 450 pieces.
