As, mentioned before, I'm a big fan of summer and the short distance to the water for a swim. Islands Brygge is situated only 5 minutes away from my studio. I often go for a dip while working. Popular amongst all the people in Copenhagen and many people barbecue and have beers during the evening there.

As the summer is my favorite time of the year and that the beach is just 15 min bikeride away, I recommend Amager strand. Full of people usually though, but even so it gives a bit of an exotic touch to such a scandinavian city with the sea and the bright sand in the hot summer days.

Trekroner fort is is a wonderful place, 15 minutes by boat from the city centre. The old fort is open to the public during the day, but only accessible from the water side. The current area was founded in 1786, but was not finished at the Battle of the Nest (April 2, 1801) or at the British bombardment in 1807. Nestled just north of the city, Dyrehaven is a vast, surreal landscape of meadows, castles, and gnarled fairy-tale like forests — Inhabited by a seemingly infinite population of wild deer. Lovely for runs, strolls, woodland adventures, and the like.
