Custom Lane is a collaborative centre for design and making. Conceived by GRAS, Custom Lane is a collaborative platform created to identify, support and celebrate emerging world-class design in Scotland. Custom Lane is an evolving, collaborative experiment in creating the most engaging, enriching and enjoyable work environment for designers and design-led makers in Scotland.

One of the great things about Edinburgh is its abnormally large number of gardens and open spaces, including seven hills in and around it. A walk up this particular one on a sunny day is really pleasant. To the North you can see over the city to the sea and to the South you can see right in to the dark depths of the Scottish countryside.

There has been an increasing number of small galleries and artist-run spaces emerging in Edinburgh recently. Superclub is one that definitely stands out. It's housed in an old garage/tyre depot that has been converted into a gallery upstairs and studio spaces down below. They put on exhibitions, bands, films and all sorts of other fun stuff. It’s a really exciting place. My studio is here.
