One of my favourite things to do on my travels is finding a good bookshop. Ler Devagar (meaning ' read slowly' in English) did not disappoint. Built inside an old printing factory you can find this bookshop in the trendy LX factory in Alcântara. Books fill the walls from floor to ceiling and in the middle of the shop is a large flying bicycle. Need I say more.
This place is one of my favourite secret spots in Lisbon. It is famous for its stunning formal gardens and 17th and 18th century decorative tiles with some of the country's finest, depicting hunting, battles, and religious scenes, statuary and fountains. So let's keep it as a secret between us.
Fish, fish, fish. The crab is amazing. You get a hammer and hammer your way through delicious fish meat.
The famous fish restaurant 'Ramiro' is a couple hundred meters down the street. It has lines for hours, not worth it! Walk up to this one with no line, half of the price and frankly better food as they don't need to rush.
On the Founder's Colletion building you can travel from Egyptian, Greco-Roman, Islamic to the Far East art and to the eighteenth-century French decorative arts.
On the Modern Collection building some of the most important Portuguese modern artists from the 20th century.
The library is perfect spot to study and the garden is very beautiful.
