I was born in the mid 1980's and grow up in London. From always having a fascination with mechanical objects and relentlessly playing with lego as a child becoming a still life photographer seemed like a natural progression. There is something enormously rewarding about creating exactly whats in your head. I try and make my images on first glance look completely perfect but on closer inspection its revealed there are many imperfections, if you look closer at the 'Wrapping Paper Series' you can see all the joins and creases. I think this makes it look and feel like a photograph and not CGI.

I'm from Cornwall. Anyone who knows me knows that I rant on about Cornwall. The longer I stay away from Cornwall (in London) the more I seem to rant about it. But I still like to go back as often as possible to do crazy stuff like cast metal furniture on the beach or carve chairs out of Cornish granite in the various quarries dotted around the countryside. Otherwise you will find me in my studio in deepest darkest Tottenham whittling a lump of material into a spoon or chair.

Corn Shuk Mei is a painter, day-dreamer and wanderer. She graduated with an MFA from Wimbledon College of Arts in 2016. She lives and works in London. Since graduating she has shown her works in both solo and group exhibitions in the UK and Hong Kong, and her works reside in several private collections. Corn sets out to explore the deepest levels of the human subconscious. The atmospheric, melancholic tones of her drawings and paintings evoke sensations of dislocation. These works document her interest in what is lost and what is found, the ambivalence between what is the fleeting memory and what is synthesized as a trace within the landscape. Corn is having solo exhibitions at the Jam Factory Gallery, Oxford and Building BloQs, London, in summer and Coningsby Gallery in September respectively. Her work “Night Swim Series, Mirror: Crystal” has been selected by Visual Art Open 2018 and will be exhibited in Chester Cathedral and Chester Arts Fair 2018.
