Ivan Bernal is a Colombian born architect and designer.He received his Masters Degree from SCI-Arc with honors and the recognition of “Best Thesis” 2011. He has worked in all scales and levels in the architecture profession. From installations to Master plans. He is committed to the experimentation of the built form and pushing the limits of the field. Making those who accept standardization uncomfortable his work deals with the relationship among form, culture and the social impact of the built environment. Not limited to the conventional architectural media, he explores different techniques such as animations, mix-media models and photo manipulation to express his ideas.

One of my favorite things to do on weekends is to head to Grand Central Market for brunch, grab a few glasses of wine at the Oyster bar and then roam around downtown collecting pigeons. Over the past few years the market has been modernized and has become a really trendy spot, but it still retains aspects of what it was like decades ago. Some of my favorite stands are The Oyster Gourmet, Sarita's Pupuseria and the Belcampo Meat Co.

This neighborhood is my home. Since I moved here 2 years ago there has been so much improvement in the area. I am walking distance from the art supply store, gourmet beer, korean barbecue, and every major freeway. I am the perfect distance from everything without being in the metropolitan epicenter. Part restaurant, part market, part publication, Botanica is a lively space in LA’s Silver Lake neighborhood. We converted the former drop ceiling liquor store by peeling the space back to its original shell and opening up the back wall and patio creating a space that reflects their personality and cooking – bright, lively and communal.

Vintage store off the beaten path, with good prices and cool decorations. Have found many good things here!
