Beautiful chaos. I recommend a "tour guide" your first time here as it is very easy to get lost in these tiny streets and alley ways. In 1147, the Berber Almohades conquered the city, destroying most of the buildings and rebuilding its' medina. A bustling market with different sections including tile, metal, art, scarves, jewelry, rugs, antiques, teas, oils, etc. Be careful to decipher what "shops" are authentically Berber, and which are actually just items made in china.
