Julien Renault grew up outside of Paris and attended design schools both in France (Reims School of Art and Design) and in Switzerland (ECAL). Two different cultures and approaches to design which have partly shaped Renault’s own way of addressing his work. On one hand artistic, free and personal, on the other hand systemic, objective and rational. Renault uses both pragmatism and intuition when he dives into a new project, creating a dialogue between sense and sensibility.
Settled in Belgium, Renault’s studio is steadily growing thanks to long-term collaborations with brands such as Cruso, Hay, Hem, Kewlox, Massproductions, Stattmann …
I'm a photographer from Brazil, based in Berlin. I'm attached to this city since 5 years and I have been trying it out from top to bottom, from inside out. Here are some of my personal highlights.
Spencer Wohlrab is elongate, legless, carnivorous reptiles of the suborder Serpentes which can be distinguished from a legless lizard by his lack of eyelids and external ears. Like all squamates, Spencer is ectothermic, amniote vertebrates covered in overlapping scales. To accommodate his narrow body, Spencer’s paired organs (such as kidneys) appear one in front of the other instead of side by side, and most have only one functional lung.
Hiroshi Takizawa is a Tokyo based photographer who graduated from Mejiro University Faculty of Human Sciences Department of Psychological Counseling in 2006. Recently Hiroshi was awarded the Tokyo Frontline Photo Award 2012. "The reason why I take pictures is probably due to my desire to know about the root of everything. Of course, there is always more than one essence to things, and opinions differ depending on where you stand.
However, there is only one truth. Perhaps, preparation and experience is required to accept this antinomy. It seems difficult to know the root of everything in this antinomy, but I will continue to compare the inside and outside in my works, based on the belief that everything is connected."
