Dan is a graphic designer and illustrator based in the Philippines. He is a founding partner at Plus63 Design Co. and the Hydra Design Group. Manila / Restaurant

Toyo is one of my favorite restaurants in Manila. The shop is in the same compound as my studio, so I always bring my visiting friends here for dinner. The ambience is nice and the food is really really good. It's Filipino food in its essence, but done very differently.

Manila / Art

A dedicated space in Manila for contemporary art galleries, institutions, shops, restaurants, cafes and a design studio, along a wide, shaded garden hallway, The Alley is a quiet and relaxed place where you can sit outside from afternoon to evening over coffee and wine, catch a show, put up a show, meet a friend.

Rikuzentakata / Hotel

It's rare for tourists to go to the Tohoku (Northeast) Region of Japan except for Sendai (the capital). I've been there a couple of times for a design residency. It's good to use Rikuzentakata as the base. I highly recommend Hakoneyama Terrace. It has a nice view, they serve good food and the accommodation is good.

Tokyo / Cafe

This is my favorite go-to coffee shop in Tokyo. It's in a quiet and quaint space. I recommend trying their coffee and muffins. It's also right across a park and playground.

Melbourne / Illustrator

Marc Martin is an illustrator based in Melbourne, Australia. Working with watercolour, gouache, pencil, and computer, his work is a world of dense colour, rich textures and the odd scribble. Trevor Basset is a graphic designer and illustrator from Seattle, WA. He works at Ride Snowboards and helps curate the Silver Screen Society, a project launched in early 2011. He graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in 2010 and also works with his wife as Small Horse Studio.

New York / Actor

Mitzi Akaha is a New York-based actress with roots in the Midwestern US, Japan, and the central coast of California. After developing her career in Japan, she relocated to New York in 2014 where she continues to contribute her particular talents and peculiar humor to a variety of projects, starring in national commercial spots, music videos and films. She is also a published writer and illustrator and has multiple scripts in development.
