Toyo is one of my favorite restaurants in Manila. The shop is in the same compound as my studio, so I always bring my visiting friends here for dinner. The ambience is nice and the food is really really good. It's Filipino food in its essence, but done very differently.

It's rare for tourists to go to the Tohoku (Northeast) Region of Japan except for Sendai (the capital). I've been there a couple of times for a design residency. It's good to use Rikuzentakata as the base. I highly recommend Hakoneyama Terrace. It has a nice view, they serve good food and the accommodation is good.

This is my favorite go-to coffee shop in Tokyo. It's in a quiet and quaint space. I recommend trying their coffee and muffins. It's also right across a park and playground.

Her projects start from a personal narrative that leads to visual narratives on paper. The scenes from the narratives she creates are usually a representation of herself and her experiences. She gets inspired from everyday objects in her surrounding world, the ongoing civilisation, current affairs and nature. She creates books posters and stationery based on images made from hands-on techniques such as collage, linocut, watercolour painting, acrylic and gouache.

Pieter Boels is a graphic artist looking for meaning in the shapes of language and the language of shapes. His work is an amalgam of graphic design, illustrative hand lettering and calligraphy, with a strong aesthetic sensibility. Working with both analog and digital tools, he's always striving to create something that resonates with people, and to make them do a double take. Since 2012 Pieter runs a one-man studio in Antwerp, Belgium. The projects he engages in range from large and commercial to tiny and artistic (or the other way round) for local and international collaborators, and himself. Together with his partner, Pieter curates a small space for art & design called Rosewood.
