I’m here once a week, bouncing round the park with my dog Martha, generally yelling her name trying to stop her eating poo or lick little kids faces, usually one after the other. There are so many parks and woods and mountains in and around Vancouver, but for some reason this place just works for me - maybe there is less of a fear of being eaten by a bear or bugs?

Fupper is Simon Hughes, a musician from London currently living in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The latest Fupper release is “Foreign Bodies”; it is his 18th album in 20 years. The music sounds like an electronic Moondog with luscious guitars, harmonized vocals, spoken word, lyrics of streaming consciousness, found sounds and field recordings. “I have given a list of some of my favorite Vancouver haunts. Besides these, drink in the nature and get wet.”

I've always had a thing for bridges. It is something with the way they connect the known with the unknown and spans across vast distances. When I was new in Vancouver I worked for a while in a deli downtown. I used to walk across Granville bridge every night with the city glittering into the water all around me. Just beautiful!

Despite the stigma that surrounds East Vancouver, the alleys are often adorned with amazingly colourful offerings. I find it very inspiring to take a stroll through a select few and pick out literary scrawling, graffiti, and the layers of vibrant history that cover the walls.

Catalog Gallery consistently exhibits amazing art spanning genre and style. It’s one of my favourite galleries in the city, and always has a surprise in store. You can’t find the kind of work it presents anywhere else in Vancouver.

Vancouver / Music Venue

1067 is one of the best music venues in Vancouver, playing host to experimental jazz and other electro-acoustic offerings. It is underground in every sense of the word, hidden in an alley behind an unmarked door (aside from the faintest scribbling of the address in the top right corner). $5 and a ring on a hidden buzzer gets you in to this amazing spot through a labyrinth of stairs and hallways.

Locally designed stationary and text-based things! Regional Assembly of Text is a gift shop that also has its own letter writing club (free typewriter parties!) and a little cozy nook named 'lowercase gallery' which features a library of handmade art books and zines!
