It's a futuristic, postmodern and the largest rebuilding project in Europe of city-planning where the old port warehouses are being replaced with offices, hotels, shops, offical buildings and residential areas. Museumscafé im Jenisch Haus: take a walk along the Elbe river, reach the Jenisch Park, at the middle of the green meadow you will see a white dice, that's the Jenisch House, stop by for a coffe or a tea and a slice of cake. Perfect place for a break with a sunny day even better with a rainy day. Close by there is the Ernst Barlach House, museum of the expressionist sculptor Ernst Barlach.

If you want to leave the city and breathe in some fresh air, just buy a "Schleswig Holstein Ticket" and go by train to Travemünde. A borough of Lübeck about 1,5 hours away from Hamburg and located next to the sea. It has been a seaside resort since 1802 and has still some architecture, signs and symbols from the 19th century to show.

This is yone of the city's best coffee spots. The café has a lovely warm and laid-back atmosphere. On Sundays i get the vegan breakfast there, with fresh vegetables and fruits and i love to stay for some hours reading or working (they have free w-lan there).
