DOMENICO DE CHIRICO: ITALY, INDEPENDENT CURATOR. Domenico de Chirico is an independent curator from Italy. Born in Bari in 1983, he lives and works in Milan. From 2011 until 2015 he was a professor in “Visual Culture” and “Trend Research” at Milan’s European Institute of Design (IED). He collaborates with a number of international artists, galleries, institutions, art fairs, art prizes, and magazines worldwide. He has been artistic director at DAMA Fair, Turin since 2016. He was also a visiting tutor at Goldsmiths, University of London (2018). Upcoming exhibitions and researches (2019/20): Accademia di belle arti di Urbino, academy of fine arts located in Urbino, Marche, Italy (guest lecturer); Bienvenue Art Fair, Paris (prize jury member); Fotopub Festival, Novo Mesto, Slovenia (guest lecturer). Milan / Bar

Even the most unconventional tourist would never leave Milan without visiting Piazza del Duomo. Well, since you’re there you must have a traditional “aperitivo” (to get before lunch or before dinner) at the Bar Zucca where Verdi and Toscanini used to go, back from the Scala Theatre. We never sit at the nice small tables located apart, we like to enjoy our Rabarbaro Zucca standing in the crowd of the bar - just try it.

Founded in 2011, Paladini 8 is a space of 500 mq which includes a backyard, a bar/bistrot, a vinyl and book shop, an exhibition room, a coworking space and a bunch of private offices with professionals in the creative field. Concerts, exhibitions and events are organised every night. This place represents an active and important landmark in the new cultural and artistic scene of Milan.

It's a very laid back bar located in Chinatown, that serves also food. I have designed this bar with Roberto Marone, who is one of the owners and we took inspiration from our various travels. It's a very cozy, almost homely place and a perfect spot to hang out.

I consider e/c natural wine shop a hidden treasure in Milan. Inside a building with an "Emergency" (that is actually an ONG) plaque outside, the first thing one might think is that is a hospital. Once passing the wall, there's a cute internal square, with Basilica di Sant'Eustorgio view. You can sit both inside or outside, which a strongly recommend for spring and summer days. A nice place for just passing by to grab a bottle of wine and drink it at home, having a glass of wine (they have many options) or enjoying a relaxed evening.
