It is located in the Long Island City neighborhood in the borough of Queens, New York City Visiting the Art Book Fair usually happening in September is one thing - but the place itself is a great other! During the summer-months of July and August the so called Summer-Warm-Up each Saturday takes place there as well! The Picture shows the James Turrell “Meeting”.

Helga Traxler, born 1984 in Austria, also known as Photosalonhelga – is a Freelance-Photographer with a Masters Degree in Visual Communications. Helga has worked with clients such as: New York Times T-Magazine, New York Magazine - The Cut, Ryan McGinley Studios, Rauschenberg Foundation, Walter Schupfer Management, Mac Cosmetics, Sweden Unlimited, Bullett Media, Conrad Rosett, Mango, Ebay, Allianz, amm. Through the experimentation with the medium she is blurring the boundaries between fashion and art. Helga is known for her cautious, calculated approach and varied photographic style with strong attention paid to details and colour schemes. Her focus is squarely on people. I love that there's a museum dedicated to American art, founded at a time when American artists were underappreciated. The exhibitions are curated with a broad but discerning eye, and the architecture is spectacular. In my experience it's typically much quieter than the obvious choices like the Met and the MoMA - although both are remarkable, there's something I love about the scale and style of the Whitney.

Growing up I’d go to Staten Island a lot due to how close it was to my hometown. It wasn’t until I went back as an adult that I realized the uniqueness of this place, the outdated but also artistically beautiful aesthetic of the island, and appreciated it more. Plus the food (lots of diners and Italian food) is great and people watching is also pretty interesting.

Dia:Beacon is a short train ride from the city in a former Nabisco box printing factory. This art foundation has 240,000 square feet of art from the 1960s to the present. Dia features the work of Sol LeWitt, Imi Knoebel, Andy Warhol, Dan Flavin, Agnes Martin, On Kawara, Bruce Nauman, and many others. I love going during the summer to enjoy the gardens surronding the building.

Coming back from from New Haven, we got off at Grand Central and he took me down one of the concourses to the place with the vaulted ceiling. He stood at one corner and I stood at another and we whispered into the walls, our voices drifting across to each other.
