Apart from the fact that its building is worth a visit by itself as it’s the only purpose-built stable that functioned as a horse hospital within Central London that is still intact, it also offers some of the best underground and avant-garde culture in London. Aside from exhibitions, film screenings and music events it also houses ‘The Contemporary Wardrobe Collection’ which features vintage street fashion, couture items and accessories to the Film, TV and Fashion industries.

German born Dennis Schoenberg moved to London to study Film and Audio-Visual Production and subsequently completed an MA in Photography at Westminster University. Dennis then went on to work as a photographic assistant for Rankin at Dazed & Confused before moving to New York to assist Steven Klein. On returning to London Dennis became Studio Manager for Turner Prize winner Wolfgang Tillmans. Throughout this time Dennis built up a relationship with i-D Magazine for which he started working as a freelance photographer after having left his position at Wolfgang Tillmans. Since then Dennis has been working as a portrait and fashion photographer as well as a video director.

I love the George and Dragon Public House. Cluttered deco of silly artifacts and memorabilia and slightly scuzzy around the edges. Great drinking characters, DJs and The White Cubicle gallery in the ladies toilets is difficult to beat.

Southbank has organically evolved into a place of cultural significance through the persistent creative use of skateboarders spanning over generations. Southbank is currently under threat of being destroyed and replaced by coffee shops and retail outlets. There has been an alternative skate spot preposed to be built under Hungerford Bridge, this at first glance seems like an appropriate solution. Unfortunately this undermines the grassroots movement that has been developed over the years. Skateboarders have utilised the unsuspecting angles of brutalist architecture in a way they were originally not intended, in doing so they have created a space that is special and unreplicable. You can help save this historic place by signing the petition.

A friend took me to this bar on Greek Street, I’m unsure of what it’s called or if it should be there, but it feels pretty authentic and makes you dream of the Soho of the 60s.
