I’m Verena Michelitsch, an independent designer and art director from Austria by way of New York City. I specialize in conceptualizing and creating unique visual expressions, spanning graphic design, art direction, illustration, pattern, editorial, and digital design. I’ve had the pleasure to work with an array of international studios and clients, including Apple, Nasa/JPL, Facebook, Red Bull, The Smithsonian and Opening Ceremony. New York / Transport

The best views on Brooklyn and Manhattan. Forget the sweaty and expensive tourist buses, the ferry is just as much as a subway ride and breathtakingly beautiful.

New York / Place

Moma is worth a visit, but for a more lively Art experience ánd for free, one should visit Chelsea. A colony of 400 Art Galleries, showing the best in contemporary art. Running straight through is the high line, a 1 mile long linear park, build on a former railroad-spur, worth the walk.

As Jim Jarmusch put it in the documentary Blank City, the address is roughly between Bowery, Avenue B, 14th Street and Houston. This area of the city is steeped in art, film, and music history; so many hugely influential artists, film makers, and musicians still live and work here. For such a small area, I think it's had more concentrated influence on contemporary art and culture than anywhere else.

From Wally's cafe to Wall.E to a green wall. When you arrive in NYC you immediately mention a difference in concentration when it comes to conversations. Iphone's go always before listening to people. There is nothing to do anything about this anymore but it is a little fact. I Like to cycle and walk around in the neighborhood and mention this beautiful wall with the 2 oval light spots arisen on it. This magical light spots are constantly popp'n up on all different walls in NYC. Open your eyes: Let's stare at the wall. Just as long as something starts happening.
