Born in 1983 in New Orleans, LA, Zoë Williams holds a BA in Fine Art from the University of New Orleans and a Certificate in Fiber Art from the University of Washington. This outpost of Seattle coffee is an excellent place to get your morning cappuccino, afternoon macchiato, or just some beans to take home. I lived in Seattle for 6 years before moving to New York and at first I was afraid the coffee here wouldn’t measure up, but lucky for me there are plenty of great places. Picking a favorite wasn’t easy!

I can’t get enough of the dioramas, but my favorite parts of the AMNH are the Halls of Meteorites and Minerals. There are some beautiful specimens here, and best of all you can actually lay your hands on the 4.5-billion-year-old Cape York Meteorite.

Make sure you know the size of your party when you arrive, or the formidable looking bouncer may give you a hard time at the door (they prefer no standing inside, all parties must be seated), but once you’re in, the drinks are fantastic and the staff is friendly and accommodating. In addition to cocktails, Pouring Ribbons features an impressive selection of Chartreuse.

Tucked away on the second floor, it’s easy to forget you’re in the middle of Manhattan. Order the Ika geso (squid legs) and the nankotsu (chicken cartilage), my personal favorites. You might notice people waiting around a nondescript door inside the restaurant; this is actually the entrance to the speakeasy bar Angel’s Share.

Dead Horse Bay is about an hour and a half from lower Manhattan by public transit, but well worth the journey. There is so much glass on the beach that the waves make a soft tinkling sound as they roll in. It’s a scavenger’s dream, and glass isn’t the only thing you’ll find here. There are still plenty of horse bones to remind you where the place gets its name.

Qingyu Wu (Q) is an award-winning designer, krautrock lover, and cult film dedicated fan based in New York City. Qingyu holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MFA in 2D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her work has been recognized by the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), the Type Directors Club (TDC), and China Graphic Design Association (CGDA). Featured by AIGA Eye on Design, It's Nice That, People of Print, Ficciones Typografika, Women of Graphic Design and more. Qingyu received the Golden Award at The A' Design Award & Competition 2018, Gold Award from CGDA 2017 Graphic Design Academy Award, and Certificates of Typographic Excellence Award from TDC 64. She has lectured at the Art Center College of Design, Parsons School of Design, and Pratt Institute.

With over a decade of experience in creative direction, graphic design, and digital strategy, she leads the studio's vision and practice, transforming data into knowledge for diverse clients and contexts. She is a tenured Associate Professor of Communication Design at Parsons School of Design, where she teaches and researches global scripts, archives, and the manifold ways design can unlock human stories and reveal connections through language and information. Park's work has been recognized by Fast Company Innovation by Design, the Webbys, Design Week, the Art Director's Club, and the American Institute of Graphic Arts. She speaks and exhibits internationally, most recently at the Biennial of Design in Ljubljana, the Ningbo Museum of Art in China, and at Palazzo Mora in collaboration with the European Cultural Centre and the Venice Biennale. In 2022, Park was selected for Creative Review's Creative Leaders list, which celebrates global leaders advancing their field.
