At the intersection of fashion, photography, film, stagecraft, and design, artist Marina Fini creates hallucinatory, alternative worlds. Based in California, she collaborates with friends and artists alike in the staging of these otherworldly scenes, using colorful costumes and her own handmade, plexiglass jewelry to turn her photographic subjects into ethereal cyber goddesses. When asked how she builds these characters, Fini remarked, “there’s something about transforming someone into someone they wouldn’t normally be … that is, creating an extension of themselves that I see in them.” All of her characters exude a captivating power, like the whimsical and intangible figures seen through a psychedelic dream. By exploring alternative selves in familiar contexts – a convenience store, or the Californian seaside, for example – Fini explores how subjecthood is fluid, and how such creative “shape-shifting” can alter the way we perceive our immediate reality.

Gabriela Rouiller is a visual artist and a fashion photographer based in Uruguay. Her work can direct or precise in content or heavily influenced by her imagination. Having a passion for traveling, thriving from her interactions with people and her surroundings, she has this sense of looking beyond the present day when seeking inspiration which can be seen in her work, essentially, captivating viewers with the allure in her narration she exhibits. Gabriela has been published in fashion and photography magazines and is currently working on several projects, and in her online magazine, Flur Magazine.

Ryan Koopmans (BA, MFA) is a Dutch Canadian photographer interested in the built environment and the societies that are shaped by those environments. Born in Amsterdam (1986) he was raised on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada, completed his undergraduate education at UBC in Vancouver, and in 2012 received a Masters of Fine Art in Photography, Video & Related Media at The School of Visual Arts in New York City. His undergraduate degree in the interdisciplinary practices of geography, art history, and psychology formed the basis for his interest in architecture and the communities living in that architecture. Koopmans is primarily drawn to photographing surreal structures in our world’s megacities and urban landscapes. Formal qualities in their geometry, repetition, and saturation help him illustrate what he terms ‘the poetry of form in interesting locations.’ In essence, his work documents the points of intersection where the natural and manmade converge. He credits his upbringing on Canada’s rugged West Coast, where distances and vistas are vast, as to why he often photographs from a removed perspective, embracing a large sense of scale. Currently based in Stockholm, Sweden, the majority of the year Koopmans travels around the world for both personal and assigned photography & video projects.
