We are shaping tomorrow’s diverse cultures. Happening Studio is an international design studio, cultivating global minds with local sensibility. Specializing in identity design as a studio foundation, we output a wide range of work, from screen-based experiences to printed reading experiences. Often working with small to medium sized cultural institutions and museums, Happening Studio function as a design mediator and facilitator between in-house design, marketing staffs and high level stakeholders. Since 2019, the studio went fully remote and worked from 3 different continents to further establish their design practice and research. Tokyo / Event

My friends run this event space called Asoko in Koenji. I had an event there last summer and the theme was “mad scientist” and this photo is actually from that night. We made 300 falafels for it. By the way, Asoko means “there,” but also is a slang for a vagina.

Tokyo / Architecture

This was a tour visit to Umezu's house in Kichijoji. He is the one of most famous cartoonist. The walls are painted in red and white horizontal-striped, Makoto-chan (character of his comics) is on the roof. It became a sightseeing spot in Kichijoji from the day it was built. The dress code of this day follow in his trademark. This house is full of a sense of fun and love for his character.

This mountain is known as one of the top one hundred famous mountains in Japan. And is one of the highest mountains in the Tokyo area. I went mountaineering at the end of last autumn, and felt cold at the summit. The views changed as winds pushed away thick clouds, and I felt that winter was just around the corner. Scenery is breathtaking. It is recommended as a mountain comparatively easy to climb.

This is Salon de Cafe, where my friend brought me for my birthday. There is a sense of quality in this modern, welcoming shop. The service and atmosphere are also very good. The strawberry parfait in this cafe is very delicious. Please check it out once!

Tokyo / Restaurant

There are many long-established good Japanese buckwheat noodle restaurants in Kanda. "Kanda Yabusoba" was founded in 1880. Soba is Japanese brown noodle made from buckwheat flour. Generally, it is eaten cold after being dipped in a soy-flavored sauce. Kanda is also famous as a city for secondhand bookstores. You should take a walk to look for the books you like after eating Soba.
