citylikeyou — Umezu’s House — Tokyo by Mariko Sakaguchi

This was a tour visit to Umezu’s house in Kichijoji. He is the one of most famous cartoonist. The walls are painted in red and white horizontal-striped, Makoto-chan (character of his comics) is on the roof. It became a sightseeing spot in Kichijoji from the day it was built. The dress code of this day follow in his trademark. This house is full of a sense of fun and love for his character.

Where do you think about this inkfish' home? He live in skyscraper building. That name is "Sunshine City". There are aquarium, observation deck, amusement park, theater, hotel, tailor's shop, restaurant, mansions…etc. It is like a small city! Sunshine City in Ikebukuro. My mother was born there and I grew up there, too. Ikebukuro is a chaotic city. It's got everything from leading-edge department store to bar in the poor quarter of the town. I love this city that have many face.

Shinjuku-Kabukicho is one of the famous entertainment spots in Tokyo. There are many theatres, bars, hostess bars, and adult entertainment business. People seek pleasure, shout, and walk drunkenly at night, even though they are shy and busy with work during the daytime. Mysterious neon lights make people desire more what they want to do. You feel people’s fundamental energy there at night.

It’s a really big beautiful botanical park in Tokyo with a nice green house. I went there a few months ago after the big typhoon hit there, many trees were knocked down by the killing wind, even big ones. Recently some newscaster’s body was found there, but hey, it’s still an amazing park.

Omiya Pastry Shop is an open self-service shop, with an atmosphere of unique and elegant calm, reasonable prices, and a basic flavor. The space and the taste is satisfactory on every count. The interior gives me the feeling that I've gone back in time to Japan's Showa period.

TEPCO is Tokyo's Electricity company. You can see a big 'T' on the building. TEPCO has been making our city really bright. And also TEPCO is going to make our future bright with great nuclear power plants.
