The best live jazz band I ever heard was at a packed out night in Brilliant Corners. I was happy to be squashed.

Relaxed with character. Tiny garden at the back overlooked by Waterloo train station. Not sure if mother cat still lives there. Nice to go with friends or alone. Books. Good for a coffee and cake or a bottle of beer. Spiral staircase down to basement. The UK's only cinema dedicated to documentaries. Really interesting programme of screenings, events and talks.  

Bread shop, bakery, school & cafe

This is one of the only buildings in London that can lift depression. Each concrete block in the building is hand cast and hand hammered. Certainly the best bannisters in town.
