I have been going there since I moved to London 12 years ago. One day soon I am going to have them make me a brand new pair of brogues. I will design the holes.

Shortlisted as Emerging Woman Architect of the Year by Architects Journal,‘new talent’ by the Guardian and ‘one to watch’ by Wallpaper’s Editor Tony Chambers in 2012. Pernilla Ohrstedt was born in 1980 in Stockholm. Her design output has been both in the UK and abroad, spanning the disciplines of experimental art, architecture and curatorial practice. In 2011 Pernilla set a collaborative architecture partnership with Asif Khan. She has collaborated on several celebrated projects with Asif, including Future Memory Pavilion 2011 for British Council and Royal Academy of Arts in Singapore, Cloud 2011 for Design Miami Basel and Colette, Paris. Pernilla & Asif are currently designing Coca-Cola’s pavilion for the London 2012 Olympic Park. The 1000sqm Pavilion is an experimental building called the Beatbox. Collaborating with the music producer Mark Ronson the pavilion seamlessly integrates innovative sound technology and experimental design into a piece of architecture that the visitor will be able to play like a musical instrument.

London / Gallery

The gallery was extended into a neighbouring Victorian House space about a year and a half ago, with a real skill in judging the meeting point between the contemporary and the conserved. The architects — 6a — were also responsible for Raven Row near Spitalfields (another favourite place). I'm lucky enough to work part of the week next door, at Camberwell College of Arts. This is about great food and good books. The café — a real haven at breakfast time before work — is run by the nicest team of people, with intertwined relationships to Camberwell. This book, designed by James Langdon, represents the kind of find possible in the bookshop and also the quality of conversation content had, over the best coffee.

London / Museum

The Garden is nestled behind walls and positioned close to the River Thames in Chelsea. The Thames location is no accident as back in 1673 the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries chose their Chelsea village site for its proximity to the river to make the most of its warm air currents. It also gave them a base to moor their barge, allowing them to conduct plant finding expeditions in surrounding areas and to teach their apprentices to identify plants.

The Party Superstore was/is my absolute favourite London shop until it was bizarrely attacked and gutted during the summer London riots. They have been since adopted as a concession by the local Debenhams but you can still savour the full delights of the products and nonsense on line.

London / Bar

I grew up around this area - it really is a gem of a place. The interior is so cool, with sort of organised clutter everywhere. They have a little garden and they serve food. Its not the best in the world, but the whole experience there is great.
