Dutch born photographer Gijs van der Most is based in Los Angeles. Since he switched Amsterdam for Los Angeles about two years ago, he’s been quickly becoming a favorite in the downtown Los Angeles photography scene. Gijs’ photography is direct, personal, and sometimes with a little wink. He’s fascinated by people, their behavior and their environment. His documentary projects include “Used Car Salesmen”, “Yard Sales”, “Sign Jugglers”, and his most recent project ” I ♥ Runyon Canyon”. Even though Van der Most works are displayed in series, he doesn’t waste a single image. Gijs has co-created the blog “van der THIS! “, with his comedian/writer wife Michelle Buteau fusing the photography and comedy world into a miniseries that is eye catching as well as entertaining. The Red Lion Tavern has been a neighborhood tavern in Los Angeles for over fifty years (which is a long time for L.A.), and continues to serve as a landmark for traditional German food, a wide selection of German beer, and cozy Old World atmosphere. Plus the waitresses all wear lederhosen, and it's blocks away from my parents' house.
