Aya is a designer, and artist from Tokyo, Japan, based in NYC, sometime Europe. Her work was featured by Vogue Magazine UK, Maison&Objet Paris, New York Times, IDEAT, TL mag, Domus, AIGA Eyes on Design, Adobe creative jams and more. She was selected one of four new designers 2017 in Salone del mobile Satelite Milan design week ‘17 by Luxos Magazine. From ages 3 to 18 she studied classical violin; this early and extensive study of music continues to be a big influence on her process. Her work was a finalist for addition to the permanent collection of the Cranbrook Art Museum and the Stedelijk Museum. Winner of “Best new talent designer ‘2016” at the DMY Berlin International Design Festival. Silver medal at A’Design Award 2017. When in New York - Tourist or not - a must to go! I am in love with the architecture of the Museum. It´s a very special museum-experience you can walk through.

This is my go-to spot in my neighborhood. The food is fantastic. They have an ever changing selection of beers and the staff is friendly, attentive and down to earth. Love this place.

For brunch, the classic dish to get is the Feijoada, but the benny is also solid (and i don't recommend a benny lightly)—you can also ask for ham and spinach together (my favorite). For dinner you can also get the same thing, or the Moqueca (shrimp stew) is incredible. Pro-tip: if you're there for breakfast on a weekday, ask for a egg and cheese (add bacon or ham or avocado) on a croissant. Not on the menu—sounds basic, tastes amazing.

For the first time in Manhattan we lived on 14th street – this nice and cozy café around the corner (on 16th) still is our favorite place for delicious breakfast or brunch... Think they have tons of meals on their menu, quite affordable for huge portions.. Plus, good music.

Growing up in a small town surrounded by nature, life in the city becomes difficult sometimes. Prospect park is a great place to take a deep breath and refresh. Seeing the horizon there eases my mind.
