When I first visited NY in 2010 the New Museum left a permanent impression. I love the architecture and the concept of the piled-white-shoe-box look-a-like building at the edge of the Lower East Side neighborhood. The exhibition program is appealingly different, and the bookstore in the foyer is not to be missed!

I’m Verena Michelitsch, an independent designer and art director from Austria by way of New York City. I specialize in conceptualizing and creating unique visual expressions, spanning graphic design, art direction, illustration, pattern, editorial, and digital design. Tucked away on the second floor, it’s easy to forget you’re in the middle of Manhattan. Order the Ika geso (squid legs) and the nankotsu (chicken cartilage), my personal favorites. You might notice people waiting around a nondescript door inside the restaurant; this is actually the entrance to the speakeasy bar Angel’s Share.

Packed with the most amazing painting and sculpture from the early Renaissance to the 19th Century. One of my favorite details is this effortlessly executed dog in Fragonard's "Progress of Love" panel peering out at us with such sincerity - a resounding acquiescence to the forces of nature.

The best underground shows you will find will have free pbr and models as far as the eye can see. They are rarely announced, so keep your eyes out for promising openings, especially with Milk Underground coming up.
