Berlin / Place / Lake

I never heard about Havel until some friends and me checked out the google earth for a trip at the weekend. We went there in the german winter, oh yes…in the winter. I loved this place because is a small city island with a lake (which was frozen at that time) and with lovely houses and an old mill. I have never been there in the summer but i can imagine how wonderful would be.

I am mad about the forest, the fog, the sea. There is an halo in the details that appear in my photographs. Nothing is casual in the silence of melancholy living in the mood I capture. My private life affects the shoot. I grew up in a volcanic island called Tenerife plenty of nature and energy. I came to Berlin in 2008 after finishing my Journalism Bachelor´s degree in Madrid, I also studied Photo Edition at the Ostkreuzschule in Berlin and nowadays I am working as photo editor and photographer.

Berlin / Restaurant

Osteria Sippi is an incredible simple italian restaurant where everyone feels immediately at home. They not only know their food game but have also an impressive range of really good wines.

Boutique space offers natural perfumes, organic soulful objects, Japanese crafts/ceramics and antiques, natural incenses and smudges, resins and wood pieces for burning in incense ceremony. There are also Chinese tea ceremony going on Saturdays, zen meditation, scent-related soirees and other workshops.

One of the most beautiful pieces of Berlin actually is a piece of another city (Al-Hillah, Iraq). Normally Berliners are laid back and like to hang around, drink beer and chat till sunrise. Sometimes they do get excited though, and then they start taking old war-battered stones and piecing them together to (re)form walls. The results are great as can be seen all over Berlin, but the Ishtar gate in the Pergamon museum is where they’ve really outdone themselves.

Kw is a great art institute situated at the backyard of a very eastern part of town, place for many other small galleries. Auguststrasse is worth the walk and Kw is worth the stop.

Everyone knows Berlin is a mega party city, but it is not a generic type of party that is easily found in other cities. Berlin attracts a number or eccentric weirdos, and it is great to go people watching at nearly any venue within the city. This specific image reveals a dance party, featuring American Bounce musician Katey Red and her crew performing at Sudblock.
