For the first time in Manhattan we lived on 14th street – this nice and cozy café around the corner (on 16th) still is our favorite place for delicious breakfast or brunch… Think they have tons of meals on their menu, quite affordable for huge portions.. Plus, good music.

I’m Verena Michelitsch, an independent designer and art director from Austria by way of New York City. I love having Breakfast at Le Coucou - you'll find me here several times a week. Le Californien, OJ and Expresso! Dinner is very formal - but amazing if you dig the French high-end, but Pro tip: They have amazing drinks, so drop by and hang in the bar for a few drinks!

As Jim Jarmusch put it in the documentary Blank City, the address is roughly between Bowery, Avenue B, 14th Street and Houston. This area of the city is steeped in art, film, and music history; so many hugely influential artists, film makers, and musicians still live and work here. For such a small area, I think it's had more concentrated influence on contemporary art and culture than anywhere else.

The Brooklyn Museum is a great place to visit for contemporary and historical exhibitions, showcasing a range of international and local artists as well as its socially engaging and creative program it also hosts a party on the first Friday of every month. Its a great place to see performances (like these two cool cats) and mingle with the locals in the neighbourhood as well as art enthusiasts who come from afar to get down together and party in between the Rodin sculptures.

I love where I live. I work from home so I’m in my space so much. It’s where I do yoga and cook and make music and art and have friends over. It’s just a really good place for me and the energy is amazing. I love having Williamsburg and all my friends immediately outside my front door.
