For the first time in Manhattan we lived on 14th street – this nice and cozy café around the corner (on 16th) still is our favorite place for delicious breakfast or brunch… Think they have tons of meals on their menu, quite affordable for huge portions.. Plus, good music.

I’m Verena Michelitsch, an independent designer and art director from Austria by way of New York City. Dumbo, which stands for 'Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass,' is a neat neighborhood in Brooklyn that is at an awesome vantage point of Manhattan. There are cool rocks on the shore of Brooklyn Bridge Park that are fun to relax on and sneak alcoholic beverages.

New York / Bookstore

Fav art bookstore in the city (and the world?). Great place for inspiration and reference art, both new and vintage finds. Not very cheap but mostly quite worth it.

Dia:Beacon is a short train ride from the city in a former Nabisco box printing factory. This art foundation has 240,000 square feet of art from the 1960s to the present. Dia features the work of Sol LeWitt, Imi Knoebel, Andy Warhol, Dan Flavin, Agnes Martin, On Kawara, Bruce Nauman, and many others. I love going during the summer to enjoy the gardens surronding the building.

I don't go to the movies much but when I do I love coming here... they have the best of the independent and international films and it's the last of it's kind in New York.

New York / Museum

Of all the many museums in New York, this one is the most striking to me because of the unique experience you have while viewing the art. This Frank Lloyd Wright building integrates art with architecture in a way that makes it unique to this city. No matter where you are standing you get an incredible, extremely thought out detail of his work and the exhibited work.
